- Trauma and/or loss of control, people or resources
- Low or no-change management practices
- Bad management practices
- Client and colleague demands
- Your working environment, including poor ergonomics
- Employee relationships including role conflict
- Mismatched team or individual skillsets
How To Tell If You’re Stressed
Life can be so busy that we sometimes lose sight of the fact that we are feeling pressured. Not sure if you’re exhibiting signs of stress at work? Then ask yourself:
- Do you always miss lunch to get work done? It does show dedication. However, it is unhealthy, won’t help your energy levels, and it’s also a sign that you’ve got too much work on your plate (excuse the pun!)
- Do you often work at home after hours? Home should be your relaxation space, and working at night or on weekends can force you to avoid nurturing relationships and hobbies that are important to your wellbeing.
- Is your work often rushed? Stressed employees who feel overwhelmed often rush through projects, which can result in outputs that are incomplete, incorrect or just sub-standard.
- Are you overly emotional, irritable or edgy? Stressed people often behave in uncharacteristic ways, like losing their temper over minor events, or crying over things that would not usually be an issue.
- Do your attention levels fade during meetings or do you randomly jump from one project to another? Having too much happening at once may cause you to lose focus and be unproductive.
If you answered any of the above with a yes, stress management courses, such as our Certificate of Stress Management for Professionals will equip you with valuable tools that can help you negotiate the pressures of the modern working world. Super-charge your performance and your career!
