Course Outline and Topics

Course Overview

The Certificate of Information Technology is an online course which aims to provide you with the foundation knowledge required to understand the components and operations of computer systems. In this online course you will learn how to select, configure and use computer operating systems and basic computer hardware and software. You will explore the components inside the case, what they look like, their function, and how they work together in computer systems, as well as modify and connect system hardware components according to client and user requirements.

In addition, the Certificate of Information Technology will provide you with an understanding of the underlying infrastructure behind the Internet, what the World Wide Web really is, how it evolved, how it works and gain an understanding of network security and the fundamentals of computer system protection. You will also learn how to design and create a basic markup language document (HTML), manipulate digital images for website development, and design and produce documents and publications using word processing and publishing software.
