Course Overview

The Advanced Certificate of Mental Health is an online professional development program that will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to provide a range of community services to meet the needs of clients who may have mental health issues. You will learn to provide services to people with complex needs, deliver targeted specialised client services based on individual case management and intervention in the context and across the range of settings where mental health work occurs.  This work provides a person-centred approach to care, involving a variety of health and community service professionals working collaboratively with the client, their carer/s and family.

The Advanced Certificate of Mental Health will enable you to contribute to the recovery of people affected by a mental illness, their carer/s and families.  You will also learn how to conduct assessments and will also teach you how to work effectively with clients with alcohol and other drugs (AOD) issues and provides a basic introduction to values, services and approaches applied to work in this sector. This online mental health program will also show you how to work within an organisation’s counselling framework and how to enable clients to identify and work through concerns while supporting clients in planning a course of action.
